Why we built TradeSpace

A homeowner shouldn’t have to roll the dice every time they need a trade. And a great contractor shouldn’t have to hide on page eight of search results.

There’s a quiet problem in every Canadian city. The best tradespeople are too busy to market themselves, and the people who need them most can’t find them.

For a decade I watched homeowners get burned and contractors get undercut. Neither side wanted to be on Google Ads. Neither side wanted to be reduced to a five-star rating from a stranger they’ll never meet again.

What we wanted

A platform where contractors look like the professionals they are — not gig workers underbidding each other into the ground. A platform where you can see the actual work before you reach out. A platform that respects the trades.

That meant rethinking nearly everything: how profiles look, how trust is built, how money changes hands, how someone gets discovered.

What that looks like in practice

Every contractor on TradeSpace shows their portfolio. Every job is posted by a verified client. Every interaction is built around proximity — you see the people near you, not random listings from across the province.

We tie communities together through the people that build them.

That’s the mission. This is the first dispatch.
